SPIRITUAL COMPONENTS OF SOCIETY IN THE WORKS BY G. P. FEDOTOV

Background. Historiography of Russian emigrants is a complex and still not fully explored phenomenon. All that can be rightfully attributed to the creative legacy of a versatile researcher G. P. Fedotov. Relevance of his work continues to attract attention of researchers. The religious problem occupies a lot of space in his works. Conceptualization of theoretical ideas and analysis of the categories used by him in his work is the main goal of this article.
Materials and methods. Historiographical analysis of the part of his heritage connected with the study of socio-psychological aspects of the story is carried out in the study on the basis of the articles and monographic works. Based on the principle of historicism, using chronological and comparative-historical methods, the author revealed the essence of his views on the problems of spiritual development of human society.
Results. G. P. Fedotov concentrates attention on the concept of religiousness as he highlights the objective and subjective aspects. This reflects the static and dynamic aspects of religious consciousness as a historical and cultural phenomenon.
Conclusions. Comprehension of the religious consciousness problem in the interpretation of G. P. Fedotov gives a fresh view at such problems as the common methodology and also at specific historical aspects of the spiritual history of Russia.
